KINILENS | In celebration of Maulidur Rasul, the day when Prophet Muhammad was born, Kampung Sungai Salak in Gombak, Selangor, hosted a traditional sports event last Sunday.
One of the main highlights was the greasy pole climbing competition, which attracted nearly 100 participants of all ages, with some courageous secondary school girls also taking part.
This activity, popular around the world, involves scaling a slippery pole in pursuit of a prize, fostering teamwork, and showcasing physical prowess.
Anas, a local youth, shared that, “The prizes, including cash, electrical appliances, toys, and food, were funded through contributions from the villagers, with additional personal gifts sponsored by individuals.”
