KINILENS | As polling day draws near, Election Commission (EC) workers are seen preparing ballot boxes and other paraphernalia at the counting centre in Shah Alam, Selangor today.

The lowering of the voting age and introduction of automatic voter registration has vastly expanded Malaysia's voter base compared to previous elections. More polling streams are needed to accommodate this.

More than 20.9 million Malaysians will be eligible to vote on Nov 19, including 163,924 in Shah Alam alone.
