Despite muted celebrations for National Day this year with the cancellation of the Merdeka parade due to Covid-19, the people's patriotic spirit is still strong.

To welcome Malaysia's 63rd anniversary of independence, a family in Felda Gunung Besout 2, Slim, Perak has decorated their home with the Jalur Gemilang. 

Led by a single mother of five, Rohayu Mohd Nanyan, 48, has proudly displayed the blue, red, yellow and white colours and design of the flag in a show of love for the country in every corner of the house, along with some historical information to raise the patriotic spirit in her children and among villagers.

Their house also represented the district for the state-level Rumah Merdeka competition by the Information Department.
