Nearly 50 percent of the fire making its way through some 50ha of the Kuala Langat South Forest Reserve over five days has been extinguished so far.
The fire is suspected to have been burning a week earlier than the report received by Selangor Fire and Rescue Department last Friday and has now spread over 50ha involving six compartments.
The huge fire at the Kuala Langat South Forest Reserve is believed to have started in an area that was being trespassed by irresponsible parties carrying out illegal agricultural activities there.
The Bombardier CL-415 of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency has released 285,000 liters of water over five flights from Sunday to assist in the operation of the forest fire.
The Air Pollutant Index being monitored in the Klang Valley during the eradication operations is still at a moderate level of below 100.
