Voting means we have the ability to decide on the future of this country and steer it in the direction of where we want it to go. With Undi-18 now passed, so many of us can now vote. This means we now have a stake in what happens going forward. We are ultimately the voice of the future and hold power to make changes. It has happened before, and it happened because the people voted – people like you and me.
For the Malaysians of the younger generation, it is less about picking political sides and more about demanding excellent public service from all of our politicians. It is about having leaders who work towards benefitting the people rather than themselves. Instead of us complaining about how things will never change and allowing history to continuously repeat itself, we should at least try to make a difference.
If politicians are unable to make the change, then can the people, especially the young, make a change?
While many are now entertaining the thought that their votes can be stolen, or that their votes do not matter. Those thoughts are self-defeating and can hardly spear-head change. We can create change. We may not have certainty in the outcome, but at least we have the ability to try. Let us not be bystanders to history. Let us take part in shaping it.
And just because you are young - please do not think that you do not matter.
