Anwar and the Time Traveling Temple
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim asserted on Tuesday that the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple near Jalan Masjid India was built illegally without permission from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
He is partly right as, when the temple was reportedly built in 1893, DBKL and its predecessor the Kuala Lumpur Municipal Council did not yet exist.
If the temple's origin date is true, this means that the builders would also need to construct a time machine in order to get DBKL permission.
Happily, however, the dispute over the land on which the temple sits on appears to have been resolved without any threat to the space time continuum.
The temple agreed to move 50m away, to a parcel of land that would be gazetted permanently for its use.
