'Langkah Zafrul'
Speculation was abound that Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz would jump ship from Umno to PKR and replace Amirudin Shari as Selangor menteri besar.
If this sounds familiar, it's because 10 years ago PKR tried a similar stunt to make Anwar Ibrahim the Selangor menteri besar in the now infamous "langkah Kajang" (Kajang move).
Zafrul admitted that he had engaged with PKR, but had not made a decision.
He also denied that any positions were discussed.
Anwar said in principle, Pakatan Harapan was against party hopping between allies.
Except that in late 2020 and early 2021, five Amanah elected representatives defected to PKR.
HIGHLIGHTS
Sabah CM's meal ticket
Sabah assemblypersons don't earn enough to make a living, according to Chief Minister Hajiji Noor.
He said if they relied on their salary alone, they wouldn't even have enough to eat.
Hence, he said that is why "political donations" are needed.
Legislation to regulate political donations has been in the works since at least 2015 but has never seen the light of day.
HIGHLIGHTS
Najib plays Soros card
Najib Abdul Razak testified that George Soros’ son was part of concerted overseas efforts to destabilise Malaysia.
He said Alex Soros’ 1MDB documentary spearheaded a misleading media campaign against him, which bolstered the politically motivated United States Justice Department (DOJ) probe into the matter.
He also cited the "DC Leaks" document claiming it explicitly outlined a strategy to influence public opinion and destabilise the government he led and alleged the coordinated effort to manipulate domestic politics came from overseas.
