The RM1,000 slap
The police officer who assaulted deaf e-hailing driver Ong Ing Keong was finally hauled to court on Monday.
Muhammad Taufik Ismail - who committed the assault while acting as an escort to Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim - pled guilty to the offence under Section 323 of the Penal Code.
The charge carried a maximum penalty of a year in jail, RM2,000 fine, or both.
However, Taufik was only sentenced to a RM1,000 fine.
Meanwhile, the decision to charge the police officer came as a surprise to Ong and his legal team, who were not informed before hand.

Maxis - which was bidding for the same deal - said it would seek an explanation on why it was not chosen.

Madani licence boo-boo
The government may have committed a boo-boo when it opened bids for the Madani number plate, at least according to one businessperson.
Hasan Azhari Hashim, who is Ilham Madani Sdn Bhd programme director, claimed the Road Transport Department and the Transport Ministry had violated his copyright.
He claimed he wrote to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Feb 27 last year proposing a collaboration to sell the Madani number plates, but that the proposal fell through.
Now he wants a payout of RM1.3 million for copyright infringement.
