Madani's strings for funds
The Madani government has set seven conditions for the opposition to get equal funding, according to PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
Takiyuddin did not reveal all seven terms, but said one of them was for all opposition MPs to declare their assets, and ensure the government stays in power until the end of this current parliamentary term.
He also indicated that Putrajaya put in a clause to curtail the opposition from touching on 3R issues.
Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil said the proposal is still a draft and the opposition has room to negotiate.
Meanwhile, Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal questioned if the government was uncertain about its grip on power.
He also cited how Madani assemblypersons in Perikatan Nasional states get equal funding without strings attached.
Pakatan Harapan had pledged to provide equal funding to all lawmakers as part of its election manifesto.

Each of the states - Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, and Perlis - will have an equal share of the company.
SG4 executive secretary Takiyuddin Hassan said the company will focus on five clusters namely infrastructure and logistics; trade, investment, and industry; agriculture and food security; education and human capital; and new sources of income.

Jakim officers in govt depts
The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) raised concerns about news that Islamic affairs officers would be placed in government departments.
It claimed that this could impinge on constitutional safeguards including freedom of religion.
This in turn led to backlash from conservative groups that accused the MCCBCHST of Islamophobia and being seditious.
However, it turned out that the plan had already been in place - for 42 years.
Government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil chalked it down to a misunderstanding.
