PN's worst by-election
Perikatan Nasional lost the Nenggiri state seat to BN in their worst by-election outing since GE15.
In previous by-elections, including those they lost such as in Pulai, Simpang Jeram, and Kuala Kubu Baharu, PN either increased or maintained their vote share.
However, in Nenggiri, their vote share shrank from 53.3 percent to 38.7 percent.
This is despite a higher turnout than in last year's state election.
Speculation is rife as to why voters swung to BN, including possible sabotage from Bersatu over a last-minute decision to parachute a candidate from PAS.
HIGHLIGHTS
Muhyiddin probed
Police are probing PN chief Muhyiddin Yassin for making a 3R speech.
This is after Muhyiddin lamented yet again how the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong did not call him to form the government after the last general election when he had reportedly secured the support of 115 MPs.
Police will be taking Muhyiddin's statement on Tuesday.
HIGHLIGHTS
Civil service raise
Civil servants’ salaries will increase by up to 15 percent in two stages starting this December.
Civil servants who are managers and below will get an eight percent hike in December, and a further seven percent increase in January 2026.
Meanwhile, top executives in the public service will be getting an increment totalling seven percent within the same period.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, however, cautioned that slackers would not get the raise.
