PM warns civil service bosses
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has threatened to block the promotions of civil service bosses who turn a blind eye to corruption within their departments or units.
He said rampant corruption couldn’t persist for years within the civil service without top officials being aware of it.
He said the fight against corruption must be a collective responsibility, and not just a matter to leave to the authorities.
HIGHLIGHTS
The cost of cutting subsidies
The government expects to save RM4 billion from its diesel subsidy rationalisation exercise.
Perikatan Nasional chief Muhyiddin Yassin, however, believed that removing subsidies at the pump would cost the public more than the RM4 billion saved.
He argued that despite the government’s efforts to subsidise industries and private consumers, the new diesel prices will cause costs to go up throughout the supply chain.
HIGHLIGHTS
Another anti-DAP conspiracy
A new anti-DAP conspiracy has emerged, this time involving citizenship.
This time, cyber troopers are alleging that the DAP-led Penang government is running an operation to dish out citizenship to foreigners.
State exco member Lim Siew Khim, however, denied this and said the Penang Citizenship Programme (PKPP) has been running since 2013 and has only ever helped Malaysians dealing with statelessness - including Malays, Chinese, and Indians.
