Akmal probed for sedition
Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh was detained by police at Kota Kinabalu on Friday.
At first, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim denied Akmal was arrested, but only called up to facilitate an investigation
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain, however, confirmed the Umno Youth chief was detained.
He is being investigated under the Sedition Act and the Communications and Multimedia Act.
This is believed to be in regard to his continued calls for a boycott against KK Mart.

From 'Allah' socks to heels
In the latest storm to hit social media, local shoe brand Vern's was accused of putting a logo bearing the word "Allah" on the soles of several footwear designs.
However, the company clarified that the logo was a heel with fancy straps.
It nonetheless apologised and has taken shoes with the logo off the shelves while offering customers refunds.
Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh appeared to side with Vern's and said the company's explanation had put Muslims at ease.
