DNAA ‘plot’ twist
PKR Youth smells a rat.
The wing is wondering if there was a “plot and political motive” behind the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ decision to withdraw the charges against Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The wing’s vice-chief Tyra Hanim Razali raised this question based on the developments involving key officials in the AGC prior to the decision.
This included the former attorney-general being on leave pending his retirement and the previous deputy public prosecutor, who successfully established a prima facie case against Zahid, opting for early retirement.
Given the circumstances surrounding the controversial decision to grant the Umno president a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNNA), the wing demanded an emergency debate in the upcoming Parliament sitting.
“Time should also be given to the AGC to find new evidence and for Zahid to be charged again immediately if the coalition government doesn’t want to lose its credibility which will make it difficult for the Malaysia Madani administration,” said Tyra.
She also reminded that PKR started as a “struggle” and this spirit should not be extinguished because of the trappings of power.

Mr & Mrs Bung walk free
Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin and his wife Zizie Izette Abdul Samad have successfully quashed an order to enter their defence in an RM2.8 million corruption case.
When Kuala Lumpur High Court Judge Azhar Abdul Hamid allowed the criminal review bid by the couple, Zizie was seen sobbing in the dock.
The judge ordered that the couple be discharged and acquitted (DAA) of all the criminal charges.
On Sept 2 last year, lower court trial judge Rozina Ayob ruled that the prosecution succeeded in proving a prima facie (answerable) case against Bung and Zizie, and ordered the duo to enter their defence.
The decision comes hot on the heels of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi being granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) after the Attorney-General’s Chambers withdrew the 47 charges against him.

DAP conferred ‘lapdog’ title
In the past, DAP had often mocked MCA as a “running dog” due to its subservience to Umno in the BN coalition.
However, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has now labelled DAP as Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s “lapdog”.
This was in response to DAP leader Nga Kor Ming’s remarks over Muda possibly rescinding its support for the coalition government.
Without mincing words, he branded DAP as “hypocrites”, “power hungry” and “without principles”.
Syed Saddiq, who is livid over Zahid being granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) over his corruption charges, had threatened to withdraw support for the coalition government.
Meanwhile, Nga declared that DAP would not withdraw its support for the Anwar Ibrahim-led administration over the DNAA issue.
Yesterday, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said the commission is still pursuing new leads in the case linked to Zahid.
