PM’s ‘last warning’
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim gave a final warning last night to “extremists” not to play up 3R (race, royalty and religion) issues.
He said action will be taken against anyone, regardless of whether they’re “Malay of high stature, or spoke Mandarin or Tamil”.
Police are currently investigating both PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng for allegedly touching on 3R issues.
Hadi is being probed for alleging that DAP plans to alter Islam’s interpretation in the Federal Constitution.
Meanwhile, Lim is being investigated over a speech in Mandarin, in which he allegedly remarked about the “green wave” potentially going after non-Muslim houses of worship.
Separately, Lim Kit Siang is moving to sue Annuar Musa for claiming he was involved in the May 13, 1969, racial riots. The latter is planning to countersue.

The question of who will be the next Penang chief minister has become part of PN’s election arsenal.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, however, threw a curveball yesterday when he said a decision had not yet been made.
The decision will only be announced in a week or two, he said.
Meanwhile, DAP publicity chief Teo Nie Ching has accused Bukit Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan of harbouring a desire to become chief minister.

Fixing cost of living
Cost of living problems continue to plague the country, even as inflation continues a downtrend.
Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, however, believes that the problem can’t be solved without addressing the issue of wages as well.
He is expected to table a progressive wage policy later this year.
Meanwhile, Digital and Communication Minister Fahmi Fadzil has tasked the MCMC to investigate copycat postings about groceries costing more than double now, for being “coordinated inauthentic behaviour”.
