Ledger reveals payments to politicians
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's corruption trial took a surprise turn when a ledger used to accuse him of graft also implicated a slew of other politicians.
Among those implicated are Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and Umno ministers Khairy Jamaluddin, Reezal Merican Naina Merican and Hishammuddin Hussein.
Muhyiddin, who was accused of receiving RM1.3 million in 2018, denied the claim, stating that he was undergoing cancer treatment at the time.
However, former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, who has also been convicted of corruption, pointed out that Muhyiddin was already discharged from the hospital.
An Umno leader pushed for Muhyiddin to be charged in court but did not address ministers from his own party being implicated.
MACC announced it will investigate the named individuals. However, a lawyer questioned why the MACC is only investigating now when it already had the evidence prior to the court revelation.

Lawyers' march blocked
The Malaysian Bar's "Walk for Justice" to demand judicial independence was met with police turning up in force and blocking them from marching to Parliament.
The Bar vowed to take legal action, maintaining that police do not have the power to stop the gathering and that they had complied with the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
Meanwhile, police said they will investigate everyone who was involved in the gathering.

Old wounds in DAP
In 1990, DAP veteran Lee Lam Thye abruptly quit the party and retired from politics. 32 years on, Lee in his biography revealed that it was due to backstabbing.
Lee said some DAP leaders did not like his non-confrontational style and wanted him to give up his Bukit Bintang parliamentary seat.
DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang initially denied the allegation but Lee stood by the claim.
A day later, Lim said he ”just learnt” that a group of young DAP leaders had approached Lee to ask him to give up the seat but it was not endorsed by him or the leadership.
Lim said he had tried to persuade Lee to change his mind at the time but Lee went incommunicado.
