You have less voting power now
As you may or may not recall, anyone 18 years old and above was automatically registered as a voter when the automatic voter registration (AVR) came into effect last December, along with Undi18.
As of February this year, this translated to 6.1 million more voters than there were during the 2018 general election.
More voters mean better democracy because all votes are equal, right? Wrong.
Due to gerrymandering (unfair drawing of electoral boundaries), AVR means voters in urban areas now have less voting power compared to those in rural areas.
For example, one vote in Igan, Sarawak - a small parliamentary constituency - is equal to 10.63 votes in Bangi, according to Kini News Lab's calculations.
This is, of course, assuming everyone goes out to vote, even those who didn't register before this.

More political shenanigans
Meanwhile, politicians appear to be still actively trying to get power without the people's mandate.
Warisan president Shafie Apdal claimed to have been informed by Bersatu’s Muhyiddin Yassin that the latter had secured the support of 119 MPs, including from Pakatan Harapan.
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim had admitted to meeting with Muhyiddin but added that no one in Harapan wants to back the Perikatan Nasional chairperson.
He claimed that Muhyiddin wanted a second go at the same job.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke also outright rejected the notion that his party would support Muhyiddin.

S Vinosiny's family to sue UUM
Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) sought to heal wounds by visiting the family of deceased student S Vinosiny and offering their apologies and condolences.
However, the family did not appear to be appeased and told the UUM delegation point-blank that they plan to sue the university for negligence.
Vinosiny had died in her hostel room at UUM's Sintok campus in Kedah on May 21.
The accounting student was suspected to have suffered a fatal electric shock, something which the family claimed was backed up by injuries on her body and the post-mortem findings.
