‘After nearly 51 years of independence, and with the present political wind, we would be better off if the colonial masters still ruled this country.'
On ACA only one left for task of housecleaning
Johnny Koay: The current political scene, both from the right and left wing tactics and game plan, gives the rakyat nothing but confusion as to who to believe.
Shall we trust the opposition or BN? What about the judiciary and the cops? Can we trust and believe that they are ‘clean'?
Now PAS and BN are talking, discussing and working out a plan for the Malays and Islam.
When will the opposition or BN-PAS team work out a plan for the other races? Never, from what I've heard.
Before we gained independence from the British, we were all equal, regardless of race or religion. Now, after nearly 51 years of independence, there is a imbalance of human rights between the races.
Political government representatives and leaders always remind the rakyat to live in harmony, to love each other, to be integrated and to respect each others' place of worship.
But sometimes they do the opposite by criticising other party leaders and using the poor rakyat as a scapegoat for their own gain. They lie and are corrupt, are dishonest, dirty and not transparent, which gives us no hope.
At first they gave us a little to look good and pretended that they really care for us, but they later robbed, raped and sodomised us of our rightful share of the country's wealth.
After nearly 51 years of independence, and with the present political wind, we would be better off if the colonial masters still ruled this country.
Mooshie Mooshie:
How are we to trust the government? Even the police department is littered with scams - spare parts, corruption, the covering up of vital evidence, no investigations, contradiction after contradiction in the Altantuya case, and from the looks of it, this is only the very tip of the iceberg. There are others, like the sports ministry scandal that we read of, immigration corruption, the un- investigated insider trading by big wigs, the mismanagement of Petronas' wealth, the flaws in the judiciary, the inconclusive Lingam Tape case - aren't we sickened by all this?
It is our money they are wasting. Are we to continue to allow this abuse?
God only knows how the other ministries are tainted and how many billions are flushed down the drain or, indeed, into their pockets. Help, somebody, please.
Yee:
Syed Hamid denied Anwar's accusation and said that it would be very ‘irrational for the government to create a case of this nature, at this time, against such a person.'First of all this is a very irrational government who flips and flops constantly. In fact the former foreign minister's statement is itself irrational.
Secondly there is everything to gain from this as the accusation is against the prime minister-in- waiting and one who is out to throw the BN government out.
I still don't understand why the home affairs minister, the DG of health and very senior persons in the police force are so involved in this case so as to publicly make statements while investigations are supposedly being carried out.
Do they not have greater worries and problems in the country? Is there not a pending economic meltdown? Is crime not at an all time high?
Do we not have many unsolved cases involving kidnaped girls? Sharlinie for example?
For goodness' sake, drop this flimsy case against a 62-year-old father and grandfather who has a back problem and who supposedly sodomised a young 23-year-old man not once, not twice but eight times!
Eight times is no longer forced intrusion but rather about consenting adults, wouldn't you think?
On Ironical PM chooses to be a Malay first
JY: It's indeed sad for all Malaysian people that the people's leader and hero regards himself as a Malay first, even though he accepted the post of PM of Malaysia. It's obvious it was done with a personal agenda in mind.
Years ago, when I was a Primary 4 pupil at a premier school, we were made to learn and sing the popular patriotic song that goes like this:
Let's get together, sing a happy song
Malaysia forever, ten million strong
We're all in the same boat
Happy as we row
We either float
or sink together
So let us hold on together
For united we are strong
Imagine, after so many years, people still have to be taught that unity is strength and that to be divided is to fall flat.
When you face a common enemy at your door step, you'll see whether you want to think of yourself as Malay, Chinese Indian, Eurasian, Pakistani, Punjabi, Iban or Dayak, Kadazan or Murut, or truly Malaysian.
On Najib: Take Umno-PAS merger step by step
Garry Khoo: If we were talking about walking before we can run, the rakyat should be able to fly by now.
Now Najib tells us to walk again step by step and I wonder, is it in conjunction with the change in our lifestyle by walking on the street to save fuel?
Thank you, BN. Even though it's now 2008, we still need to walk.
But Pakatan Rakyat will be flying with the rakyat very soon. The rakyat don't want to walk anymore.
The rakyat have been walking for the past 50 years, with 32 days left until it's 51 years.
Walk? Najib, you can walk with your wife. It's none of the rakyat 's business.
On Zaid: Both sides want me to resign
M Raken:
At last and alas! We have one man, Zaid - a brave, intelligent, bold, sacrificing and caring visionary telling the government to wake up from its pretentious slumber.Zaid tells the greedy, conceited, and arrogant political leaders that if they don't know what the people, especially the younger generation, want, then it is better for them to relinquish their leadership and allow the people to decide whom they want to represent them to charter their future.
Zaid, thank you for being so manly and professional and objective.
The crooks will hate you for being so bold and outspoken, but the majority of the people will respect you.
Earning the sincere respect of all the people is what life is all about. God bless you.
On Koh urged to admit guilt over land scam
YCS: ‘It is not me to be blamed, it is my officers lah!': that's what Koh will say.
Typical of politicians with no guts to admit when they are wrong and they think that saying sorry will make the whole thing go away.
PKR needs to go further. Make them pay back what they have robbed from the rakyat .
Make them pay for all the hardship that the rakyat have had to suffer, so that it will be a lesson to all politicians that they are accountable to the rakyat .
On The prime minister-in-waiting unclothed
Kenny Gan: The writer's convoluted logic on Anwar's handling of the hospital examination is too complicated to be plausible.
The simple explanation is that Anwar had to publicise that he was stripped naked and examined because the information may be passed on to his accuser to provide an accurate description of his body in court.
The writer ended on a snide note that we should be careful of trusting Anwar when he attains power. I'm not 100% sure that Anwar will plug corruption and treat all races fairly as he promised.
But I'm absolutely certain that we will continue to have endemic corruption and a racist system under Barisan National for the next 50 years.
If we elect Anwar to power, we have some hope. If we continue with the status quo we have none. On that note, what do we have to be careful about?
Those who are satisfied with the way things are should note that endemic corruption, abuse of power and social injustice go hand-in-hand with economic decline.
We will not stay the way we are, we are going down a slippery slope and may soon benchmark ourselves with African countries.
On Sodo my probe: 7 MCA branches demand answers
One Malaysian: Indeed, MCA has come to its senses. One just cannot go along with Umno's diabolical and desperate schemes like a moron. MCA and MIC have been kowtowing to Tuan Umno '.
Perhaps, in previous times, there were sensible reasons to be part of BN. But current events have clearly shown that Tuan Umno has gone bonkers and lost control of its mind.
We have seen a lot flip-flops, denials and abuses of power.
BN is incapable of delivering any decent public service. Umno's interest is just to hang onto power, to satisfy its craving for the rakyat 's wealth, proven with countless cases of corruption.
It has even misused the judiciary, running Malaysia like a big mafia, and the whole world knows about it.
Yet the BN is smiling widely to the world, as though we the rakyat subscribe to the BN mentality.
