‘All of a sudden it would seem that he has awakened up from his slumber as if he was in a coma all these years. What a play, what a masquerade!’
On Khir Toyo: Blame the keris, not the broom
Santan: What fools does the arrogant, post-plastic surgery, ex-MB of Selangor think Malaysians are? What’s he doing, bersandiwara -ing even till now? To distract us whilst some siphons public funds away from the rightful guardians? He may be looking better than before, but he’s still no Brad Pitt.
Mr Khir Toyo, stop playing the ‘good guy’ because you’re not and nothing you say now matters anymore to anyone. At least for once in your life, do us a favour and do away with your performances. We’re not the least entertained.
Observer: All of a sudden it would seem that Khir Toyo has awakened up from his slumber as if he was in a coma all these years. What a play, what a masquerade! He would make a fine example from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar - et tu Brutus .
It is not the keris or the ‘big talker’ Khairy that brought the downfall alone - it is people like Khir Toyo and cronies of BN sitting on high pedestals reaping the cream of the fruits of labour that the ordinary citizens of Malaysia have toiled for. There are so many others like him in the BN flowchart.
As the ‘golden goose’ has lost its fertility to lay more golden eggs, thus they are apprehensive of that the amassed fortune that they have accumulated over the comfortable years would be exposed. We had enough of the likes of Khir Toyo and the rest of the elites of BN - you are history and so you will be. It is not too late to abscond quietly for if you were to poke the turf, you will find more cans of worms.
As for Pakatan, let this be a lesson, do not be heavyhanded, for people's power is supreme still. You are there for the people and not for your personal interests, not for your family’s gains etc.
On BN's running out of time with Lee's defection: Dr M
CH Ong: In his letter Mahathir says: ‘Supposing the opposition are smart enough to provide good government, to look after the interests of the ordinary people, to lead a Spartan life like not flying in chartered planes when going to Kuala Lumpur or taking excos and divisional heads on jaunts to foreign countries, then those people who voted for the opposition out of anger against the BN in 2008, would transfer their loyalty permanently to the opposition’.
Well, if the Pakatan Rakyat is able to run a good government and look after the interests of the ordinary people, then anyone who loves Malaysia should be rejoicing instead of worrying about the window of opportunity closing fast for the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition. But Mahathir is not rejoicing. He is worried that Malaysians would transfer their loyalty permanently to the Pakatan Rakyat if Pakatan Rakyat government is able to run a good government and look after the interests of the ordinary people.
Mahathir concluded his letter by saying that if Umno leaders continue to support Abdullah under whom the BN and its component parties were defeated then ‘their children and grandchildren will pay a terrible price’. How can they pay a terrible price if Pakatan Rakyat is able ‘to provide good government, to look after the interests of the ordinary people, to lead a Spartan life like not flying in chartered planes when going to Kuala Lumpur or taking excos and divisional heads on jaunts to foreign countries’?
It appears that his hatred for Abdullah is so great that he is not thinking straight anymore and is exposing himself as someone who loves Umno more than the welfare of ordinary Malaysians.
On Driven out because of education policy
LJ: I read with great sadness the letter written by Allen Lee Hong Chye. Sadness because I could have written the same letter in the early ’70s, when I would have been his age and in his predicament. So little has changed since then. Will the so-called political tsunami change anything? The heart hopes so, but the mind thinks not.
On Why bother waking up at 3am to study?
A Malaysian Taxpayer: First of all, maybe they should ask themselves whom they voted for during the past elections. If you or your parents had voted for BN during all the past elections, then you should not be complaining. By voting for BN, you were giving them the proxy to act and make decisions on your behalf. BN won overwhelmingly at the polls (excluding GE12), which made them very arrogant, and they thought they could do or make whatever decisions they liked, and that included not giving out scholarships, and setting quotas, etc...
Whenever I hear people complaining of irregularities in the administration, I always tell them this ‘If you voted for BN, don't complain now. If you wish to see some change in the way things are done, then give the opposition a chance to make things right. Join Pakatan’.
On PM's silence made Dr M look right
Chew Keng Sheng: I always have high regards for Gerakan for being the more vocal BN component party in speaking out the need for multi-racial approach.
Lim Keng Yaik expressed his joy that finally multiracial politics have been called for. My question is, if this has been Gerakan’s ideology and it had been marginalised by BN in the past, why does Gerakan still want to remain within BN? Why not become a member of Pakatan Rakyat which shares similar ideology with Gerakan?
Popeye: The mere fact that the that Gerakan lost Penang shows that Keng Yaik has ‘lost it’. To continue to believe that the non-Malays’ search for equality is wrong and we should not ‘press our luck’ tells you why Gerakan should disband as a political party or remain a well-used whore in the BN.
The constitution protects Malay special rights butdoes not deny equality to the citizens of the country. This politician who believes that his group should not question the excesses of Umno should not be given another second. I feel sorry for the Gerakan members who are now condemned to obscurity by association. Now we know why Lee Kah Choon had the intelligence and the common sense to leave the ghetto that is now Gerakan.
On Gobind challenges Khairy to apologise
Hurt Dahulu, Sekarang dan Selamanya: Allow me to add that the recently defeated former Jerai (P 12 Parliamentary Constiuency) Umno represntaive Badruddin Amiruldin should also be ordered to apologise for indirectly hurting non-Malay Malaysian citizens' feelings when he arrogantly and sarcastically challenged Fong Po Kuan to ‘ Keluar dari Malaysia! ’ if ‘You tak suka ’.
Such arrogance and ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ supremacy attitude will forever be entrenched in our minds and make us reject BN (aka Umno) in future general elections.
On Auditor: Balkis never submitted accounts
Andrew: The prime minister talked about transparency and accountability, yet he is strangely silent about the Balkis affair. Whether it is legally right or wrong for Balkis to transfer out the funds, it is certainly morally wrong to do so. They cannot treat the funds as their own because most of the funds were donated by statutory bodies and is actually the rakyat 's money. The whole affair can come to a close if the PM were to instruct Balkis to stop their dissolution proceedings and refund the money. The PM should walk his talk.
On City Hall cannot nab 'alien' hawkers
Malaysian: I find the statement by Ibrahim Yusoff, who heads the hawkers licensing department, very inane. If DBKL is only authorised to confiscate stalls and book the owners, why can't DBKL confiscate the stalls and on finding the owners to be ‘illegals’, hand them over to the police or the immigration department for deportation.
That is the proper thing for DBKL hawkers licencing department to do. If Ibrahim Yusoff cannot do his job properly , resign and let someone competent to do the job. Giving poor excuses and being incompetent appears to be the norm for our civil service under the BN government.
