The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has exposed significant procedural failings and oversight issues within the Environment Department (DOE) concerning the handling of e-waste containers detained at Westport, Port Klang.

In May 2024, the EAIC received information indicating possible misconduct by DOE officers, who were alleged to have approved the release of containers suspected to contain e-waste.
