The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Niosh) has called for the mandatory use of advanced monitoring technologies, such as the tyre pressure monitoring system and telematics, in all heavy vehicles to detect mechanical issues promptly.

Its vice-chairperson Manivanan Gowin said that these technologies could provide an early warning of potential damage that might endanger lives.
