Iran has strongly denied that it had planned to assassinate US President-elect Donald Trump, following an accusation on Friday by the US Justice Department, reported the German news agency (dpa).

In a statement on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the claim is "completely unfounded and baseless".
