DOSM: 1.95m tertiary grads working in low-skilled jobs

Some 1.95 million tertiary-educated workers in Malaysia are employed in low-skilled jobs as of the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, representing a slight increase of about 100,000 workers compared to last quarter.

This group of underemployed workers represent 36.8 percent of all tertiary-educated workers, said the Department of Statistics Malaysia in its latest release.

The department, however, did not break down the data on underemployment by ethnicity, tertiary education, geography or type of low-skilled jobs the tertiary-educated workers are employed in.
