Universiti Malaya (UM) has confirmed the admission of 12-year-old prodigy Izz Imil Sharom, making him the youngest student in the university's history since its establishment in 1962.

UM vice-chancellor Noor Azuan Abu Osman said that the child is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics programme at the Faculty of Science.
