'Convincing 'opportunistic' Chinese to vote BN easy for DAP'

Goliath: It is beyond us why Johor BN deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed would make such a statement when it’s this near to the Mahkota by-election.

This statement does not help BN at all and even if DAP wanted to help, this statement would nullify all work that had been carried out in persuading the Chinese to vote for BN.

What good will this possibly do other than making the Chinese vote for the opposition?

Everyone votes based on what they will benefit and enjoy, and it isn’t just the Chinese.

To say it that way is not only an insult to the Chinese community, it is a reckless and senseless statement.

You do not ask someone to help while you criticise him in an open statement. Is this a way to push the blame on DAP in case the Umno candidate loses the election?

I think it is now very clear and evident that if BN lost, it is because of two people: Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh and Nur Jazlan.

Honestly, we can’t tell who is worse. Umno is a trainwreck waiting to happen… Perhaps, it may have already happened.

Quigonbond: Nur Jazlan doesn't get it. It's not something ideological just because DAP says so the voters will follow.

DAP does not have a cult following. It's more like DAP has to continuously read the sentiments of the voters and give them something that hopefully represents the better part of themselves.

The non-Malays are not opportunistic. They just prefer a more positive or progressive kind of politics.

So, if folks like Akmal keep doing what he's doing, not even DAP can save those votes.

And isn't it great for the narrative that DAP is not the big brother in control of everything?

That'll put a dent in Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) demonisation of DAP.

Existential Turd: On normal days, you demonise the minorities and DAP. When election time comes, you insult them again by saying the minorities are opportunistic while riding on the coattails of DAP.

If that is not opportunistic, what is? If this is the level of your understanding of the minority voters, you deserve to be put to pasture.

I have concluded that no Malay politicians are to be trusted until proven otherwise. Anyone associated with them is also not to be trusted. DAP has now become MCA 2.0.

It has the dubious achievement of becoming MCA 2.0 in four years, which took MCA four decades to achieve.

It has absolutely no dignity or principle. Umno is too tainted to be glossed over by DAP.

Instead, DAP is being dragged down by Umno.

I think all races in this country vote along the lines of what benefits them. That is a sad reality because leaders in this country have always divided and ruled the races since the British era.

So, minority races have to fight and think doubly hard before casting their votes.

They have never thought about a Malaysian's Malaysia. So, singling out the Chinese alone is not fair.

This guy's statement is doing more damage to BN than getting Chinese support.

That is the last straw after calling a prominent Chinese leader “Nyonya Tua”.

After the dust has settled, wait for the winner to approach the Chinese, and then set the conditions.

No Malay party can rule Malaysia without the support of the Chinese and the Borneo regions.

When denied, they whine and cry like annoying babes eager to swing their mallets, then cry victim when they are smacked.

Nur Jazlan is nothing but a bully, a bully allowed to have his way too long.

If words have consequences that affect him directly, he would have known better than to insult people, let alone an entire race.

Umno and, by extension, the opportunistic Nur Jazlan will have to be given the two gifts they most definitely earned at this point; scorn and disdain.

Coward: Looks like courting non-Malay voters is seriously difficult this time for Umno.

So, they are setting up excuses to blame everyone and everything except themselves.

Umno, look no further than in the mirror to see the real reason why. You set yourself up to fall so badly that even DAP cannot rescue you.

They just hope you don't drag them down with you.

Calling any race “opportunistic” is an insult. Umno leaders will not bat an eyelid to insult anyone if it serves their twisted cause.

The grand old party is on its way out of Malaysian politics. It is associated with corruption and loose-lipped leaders.

Umno’s president, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, recently insulted the Indian voters by promising crematoriums!

The party deserves to lose and lose spectacularly, even its deposit.

He still can't see past the facade of superiority when he knows damn well that he needs DAP's support.

Honestly, BN deserves to be shown a lesson, whether they are allies or not.

Let it be a wake-up call to be truly a “unity” government rather than pretend we are all buddy-buddy when such narcissistic and polarising sentiment is held by our so-called “friends”.

On the other hand: There is a reason why Nur Jazlan is an ex-MP.

He lost a safe Umno seat by a huge margin in 2018.

Was it due to him being a strong supporter of Bossku (former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak), or was it due to his inherent racist nature that was revealed then?

In any case, this statement by Nur Jazlan will cost Umno even more non-Malay votes in this coming by-election, (which Umno may narrowly win only by the skin of their teeth against a bunch of losers), as it illustrates how racist Umno remains, despite the pummelling they received at the last general election.

Umno and Nur Jazlan are teaching us the art of how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in a previously very safe seat for BN.

Such racist stupidity needs to be rewarded in the only way they understand: don't vote for the Umno candidate until they stop being so racist.
