PARLIAMENT | The government is expected to bear treatment costs of approximately RM369 million per year in 2030 for e-cigarette or vaping product use-associated lung injury (Evali) cases if no legal controls are in place.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the Finance Ministry estimated the revenue from vape taxes to be about RM500 million a year, but research showed that the cost of treatment for Evali was RM150,000 per patient.
