The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has maintained that it is guided by provisions of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 in carrying out a wide range of functions.

It said its functions include to prevent the commission or attempted commission of an offence under any written law of the country.
