YOURSAY | 'PAS could have fixed the problem when in Putrajaya.'
PAS already implemented BN-Harapan manifesto offers in K'tan: Amar
NoobMaster69: Kelantan PAS deputy commissioner Mohd Amar Abdullah said the state has a problem with the federal government’s help over its water woes and admitted that while there is a contribution (from Putrajaya), it is not enough.
PAS was in the federal government from 2020-2022. What were they doing then? Just admit that fixing Kelantan's water woes is the last thing on their mind.
Now that they are losing Kelantan, they start to panic. I can't say PAS will not be the government in Kelantan but I can definitely say that PAS might lose its two-thirds majority this time.
If you think the Selangor government needs to be taught a lesson, the Kelantan government will be needing the biggest lesson in the whole of Malaysia.
It makes me angry to see young people from Kelantan leaving the state to seek jobs in Selangor or Johor. They have the luxury of enjoying good roads and clean water provided by a good state government but when they go back to Kelantan, they go and vote PAS, thinking it will make their sinful life a bit holier.
What they don't know is that they are making people life's in Kelantan miserable. Their old have to bore water from the ground and they are not even good for human consumption.
Mazilamani: Does the PAS government have to take 33 years to deliver clean drinking water to the people of Kelantan, parallel to the length of time PAS has been ruling Kelantan?
A whole generation of Kelantanese has been drinking unclear or murky water for 33 years. These people are today 33 years old, and I earnestly pray they are all healthy and hale.
To claim that Kelantan needs RM2 billion to correct the water problem is quite ridiculous. What about the annual RM100 or RM200 million allocations for maintenance by the federal government? That alone would have exceeded billions. Where has that money gone to?
The PAS government has been sustaining its people on lies and codes.
Apanama is back: The current water issue and much of the issues faced by Kelantanese are due to former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Now Amar has befriended him. Does he know that Kelantan continues to have ramifications today due to Pergau Dam, a multi-billion-ringgit project that was beset by allegations of corruption and impropriety?
The controversy revolved around the construction of a dam in Kelantan during the early 1990s, shortly after PAS assumed power in the state. It is an episode many may have forgotten but has resulted in much suffering in Kelantan, even today.
Despite the dam’s potential to supply clean water, Kelantan folk continues to struggle with ongoing concerns about the quality of their water even today.
Other concerns, including the ageing infrastructure, the inadequate number of treatment facilities and water pollution, also require answers from both Mahathir and the PAS government.
Ask Mahathir why did he screw up the dam project. I still remember the whole story behind it. All of you had forgotten the real root causes.
Now, Abdul Hadi Awang and Mahathir are hugging each other. Pathetic.
Sonamagum: Everything Pakatan Harapan and BN manifesto has, PAS already had.
It's just that they don't know how, and don't have the time to implement them that causes Kelantan to be poor still with no clean water and with constant flooding.
But it's alright because, after years in that condition, they are used to it already. To PAS, what's another five years? Kelantanese must wake up.
JW Wick: Do they think RM2 billion will drop from the sky? If that is the case, why stop at RM2 billion and not RM200 billion?
If PAS cannot fix a simple water issue for the past 33 years, they and Perikatan Nasional team are hopeless.
If the federal government gives RM100 million per annum, Kelantan will have received RM3.3 billion for 33 years. Enough for the state to change the entire water pipes.
Kilimanjaro: Economically speaking, PAS lacks the fine art of financial knowledge and capability to run a state, and I mean any state.
Its staple diet is race and religion and this so-called "Green Wave" is nothing more than a bloated balloon wanting and waiting to burst.
Whenever PAS feels a slide, it goes on a religious streak but in recent years it has been understood that taking race along with religion gives it the added weight that proved potent during the last poll.
The incongruence of mindsets between the Muslims and the non-Muslims will widen and as the gap widens the dam will one day break and whatever is taken for granted may not be sustainable.
Present PAS politicians will have to hope that the pipes do not burst. They cannot keep under wraps forever. Even in majority-Muslim Iran and Pakistan, issues became awry. In this country, PAS may not have it easy like in those states.
Misinformation and lack of trust are what keep PAS in power. Once the trust between Muslims and non-Muslims is bridged, PAS will be history.
For now, it will go to any lengths to play the "distrust" game by feeding into the psyche and fear but eventually, they have to come down to earth.
Coward: The federal government has said that the money requested by the state is not reasonable because they wanted to increase the water capacity 10 times.
It was the state that presented an unrealistic plan in the first place. The way they presented the plan tells me that they don't want to do any work maintaining the network.
Instead, they wanted to lay 10 pipes when one would suffice. When one pipe fails, they would simply switch on to the other pipe. They can afford to have one failed pipe every year as one would probably last about 11 years.
Scarecrow: Kelantan people are not fools. What Harapan-Umno are offering in their manifesto has long been fulfilled by the PAS government.
Everyone knows that Kelantan has long been victimised and discriminated against by the federal government so they remain with a lack of clean water with the hope that the Kelantan people would vote out PAS.
Kelantan folks have learned to live and let live and to focus on spiritual pursuits under the guidance of PAS leaders which bring lasting happiness and good health to people all the time which material goods can never bring.
GreenKoala: Then why is it that other states are not having this ill problem of drinking water? No inefficient person would admit his incompetency, it's human nature.
This is also the key reason why they cannot progress. Nobody will do anything better if they don't admit anything wrong with their current practice.
Kelantanes are very forgiving and less demanding, so the state government can easily convince their voters with simple reasons. This will never work in a more progressive state like Selangor or Johor.
