Covid-19 (Jan 22): 309 new cases, no deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry said 309 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing the total cumulative cases to 5,034,830.

Active infections stood at 10,337, down 9.4 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Penang (89)
Selangor (85)
Kuala Lumpur (51)
Johor (14)
Negeri Sembilan (14)
Sarawak (13)
Kedah (12)
Malacca (9)
Terengganu (6)
Perak (5)
Putrajaya (5)
Sabah (3)
Pahang (2)
Kelantan (1)
Perlis (0)
Labuan (0)

No deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday.

Over the past week, an average of 3.4 people were reported to have died of the disease, while the average for the past 30 days was 3.4, indicating that such deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,932 deaths have been attributed to the
coronavirus.

There are 381 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 13 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (63) followed by Sabah (44) and Kedah (23).
