Covid-19 (Nov 7): 2,521 new cases, 8 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,521 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 34,534, up 28.9 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (879)
Kuala Lumpur (461)
Negeri Sembilan (179)
Sabah (178)
Penang (132)
Kelantan (131)
Kedah (118)
Malacca (100)
Perak (88)
Pahang (77)
Johor (69)
Terengganu (57)
Sarawak (43)
Perlis (5)
Putrajaya (4)

Another 8 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which 2 were declared as "brought in dead".

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,495 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There were 101 deaths last month and 158 deaths in September.

There are 1,695 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 73 are in intensive care.

Hospitalisation of Covid-19 patients have been on a sharp rise over the past two weeks. It is now at a level not seen since early August.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (129) followed by Sabah (85) and Johor (68).
