Covid-19 (Sept 21): 2,111 new cases, 6 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,111 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active infections stood at 25,327, down 7.6 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (608)
Kuala Lumpur (474)
Perak (216)
Sabah (152)
Sarawak (102)
Negeri Sembilan (92)
Kedah (77)
Kelantan (73)
Malacca (73)
Penang (71)
Pahang (56)
Johor (40)
Terengganu (35)
Putrajaya (29)
Perlis (10)
Labuan (3)

Another six deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one was declared as "brought in dead".

The deaths were reported in Perak (4) and Selangor (2).

Over the past week, an average of 4.9 people were reported to have died of the disease, while the average for the past 30 days was 5.8, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,330 deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus.

There have been 114 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 247 deaths last month and 204 in July.

There are 1,101 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 57 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (94) followed by Sabah (73) and Johor (56).
