YOURSAY | 'Police keep making empty promises about capturing Jho Low.'
IGP: Search for Jho Low still on
Headhunter: It's strange that the government doesn't place a reward on fugitive Jho Low’s head, considering that he still holds billions of our money.
Let's say, there is a US$1 million reward for information leading to his arrest, details of his whereabouts would come in like a tsunami. Not only his whereabouts but also all the conspirators who were involved in scamming the country and are now on the run.
A reward will also put fear into them and will certainly force them into hiding, instead of still flaunting their stolen wealth like Jho Low. It will also cut their contacts with institutions such as banks and investment entities which will not touch them with a 10-foot pole.
If they are kept on the run and forced to hide, they might, eventually, even surrender themselves to the authorities.
Indeed, the potential of recovering the monies far outweighs a few million that the government can offer as a reward.
Apanama is Back: “He (Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani) urged those with information on Low Taek Jho’s (Jho Low) whereabouts to contact the Commercial Crime Investigation Department’s (CCID) hotline at 013-211 1222 (by WhatsApp only) or the nearest police station."
IGP, are you telling all of us that since 2015, seven years ago, you could not find Jho Low and did not know his whereabouts?
You really do not know his whereabouts? Don't tell me that your Special Branch is also sleeping on their job.
OCT: It's the same old record playing over and over again.
The police are very selective in their investigations and in discharging their duties. Capturing and bringing home Jho Low is of no benefit to the present government. It may even topple the government.
Even if the police know where Jho Low is, they may pretend not to see, hear or take action against him.
Jho Low is a person of interest and a high-value target that, apparently, should be given protection at all costs. So, the big question is, will the rakyat see Jho Low captured? No way!
BobbyO: Why do they keep on making ridiculous statements and making empty promises?
It is common knowledge that the MACC and the police are compromised. They only carry out selective persecution and investigations.
So, why even make a statement when you know that there is not even an iota of truth in it?
It instead leaves a black mark on the reputation of their departments, at the same time creates more discontent among Malaysians.
Bring Jho Low home and let him sing like a nightingale. Unearth all the dirt not only concerning 1MDB but also all the shenanigans that had happened.
If he was willing to surrender more than a billion for his freedom, how much more he has hidden in banks or in his mattresses at home?
VS: The police will never ever catch him as it will open a can of worms on others who have still not been implicated in the 1MDB scandal.
If he is caught, he may reveal more dirt on the many more who are still out there, roaming free.
MarioT: They are quick to nab peaceful protesters who care about the welfare of the rakyat. Quick to pounce on reports from a fugitive blogger residing overseas. But, still searching for Jho low in the world of Interpol and the internet.
They are unable to find a defiant and ruthless husband who stole the daughter from his former wife under the pretext of religion, even though the court ordered that the daughter be returned to the mother.
Man on the Silver Mountain: You know what? The people probably do not give two hoots to your words.
We can succinctly remember that past IGPs and Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein assured us that Jho Low would be caught and returned/brought to Malaysia.
However, nothing came out of it. People must be thinking about whether they just wanted to say something for the sake of it or they must be thinking that they could easily make a statement without meaning it.
Both ways showed they are not men who can be trusted with their words. It is like crying wolf until such a time people stop believing anymore.
Tell you what - if you really want to bring this criminal back, ask the Israelis. They are experts and effective in doing this kind of thing. But wait, we can’t ask them, can we?
Mugi: IGP, allow me to give you some suggestions.
Look for Jho Low's family members, and also ask former attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali and his ‘machai’ who had offered to settle his case.
Ask the banks for his wife's address, and arrange with some guys in Shanghai and Hong Kong to visit her as well as those upmarket entertainment centres and restaurants, among others.
Lastly, give an open offer of US$10 million to the whistleblower/s whose information can lead to the nabbing of Jho Low.
With this reward, Jho Low will be on your plate before we celebrate Malaysia Day.
The Analyser: Best, the government creates a ‘jihad task force’ to find Jho Low.
Better still, they already have one that’s available.
