Covid-19 (Aug 11): 4,831 new cases, 10 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 4,831 new Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active infections stood at 46,081, down 4.6 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Selangor (1,673)
Kuala Lumpur (1,012)
Sabah (360)
Perak (356)
Negeri Sembilan (316)
Penang (210)
Malacca (155)
Johor (144)
Putrajaya (141)
Kedah (124)
Sarawak (115)
Pahang (79)
Kelantan (75)
Terengganu (46)
Labuan (19)
Perlis (6)

Another 10 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which two were declared as "brought in dead".

The deaths were reported in Johor (4), Malacca (2), Negeri Sembilan (1), Perak (1), Sarawak (1) and Selangor (1).

Over the past week, an average of nine people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 8.2, indicating that such deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,066 deaths have been attributed to the disease.

There have been 97 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 204 deaths last month and 89 in June.

There are 1,584 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 60 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (127) followed by Johor (67) and Sabah (62).
