Covid-19 (July 26): 4,759 new cases, 9 deaths

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 4,759 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 46,260, up 25.5 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kuala Lumpur (1,840)
Selangor (1,447)
Perak (223)
Penang (211)
Sabah (209)
Negeri Sembilan (170)
Kedah (130)
Malacca (103)
Sarawak (95)
Johor (74)
Kelantan (73)
Putrajaya (59)
Pahang (47)
Terengganu (37)
Labuan (27)
Perlis (14)

Another nine deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which three were declared as "brought in dead".

Deaths were reported in Perak (2), Johor (1), Pahang (1), Sabah (1), Sarawak (1), Selangor (1), Terengganu (1) and Kuala Lumpur (1).

Over the past week, an average of 8.9 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 6.2, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the uptrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 35,932 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There have been 167 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 89 deaths last month and 129 deaths in May.

There are 1,477 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 52 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (147) followed by Sabah (59) and Johor (56).
