YOURSAY | Ledger-gate: MACC investigating what it knew all along?

YOURSAY | 'Rakyat are not stupid that MACC not aware of this ‘political funding’.'

Kickbacks ledger: MACC to probe politicians named in Zahid's case

Najib disputes Muhyiddin's claim cancer stopped him taking bribes

Umno leader calls for Muhyiddin to be charged in court

BlueShark1548: So MACC is now investigating when all this while it had the ledger and the witness statement of David Tan (the former administrative manager of Ultra Kirana who testified in Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s corruption trial).

Can MACC please explain the delay? Or was it MACC's intention to have a public outcry before it opened the investigation papers?

Incidentally, some of those named are in Ismail Sabri Yaakob's cabinet. The government has been in a perpetual state of instability since the Sheraton Move.

Let’s hope that Ismail Sabri can resist the pressure to call early elections as we need the courts to give their verdicts in the ongoing cases, which should be within this year if the courts are firm on the delays caused by certain parties.

Clever Voter: Indeed, how odd. This piece of information has been available to MACC from day one. If MACC is serious, it has to put its credibility in order.

Based on its recent investigation into the complaint from an unreliable source, the agency lacks sincerity.

Newday: MACC, only now you choose to investigate? It is not a case of this information not previously being available to the inner circle of MACC and the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

You have jailed officials for far, far less than these sums of money. Ah, I forgot - one rule for selected politicians and another rule for the rest of us.

Kneazle: How did this case reach the courts if not for MACC? The rakyat are not stupid that MACC is not aware of this "political funding".

Koel: Too little and too late, MACC. How many other companies are making payments in bagfuls of cash to our shameless politicians - the worst creatures on earth, it looks like.

And is Bank Negara now more alert or still sleeping on the job as this letter to Malaysiakini noted?

Headhunter: Again, this proves that the country is run by corrupt politicians and public officers.

If not for Zahid’s court case, we would never know. And you can bet it's only the tip of the iceberg because apart from Zahid, the rest are small fries.

Focusapp: For an ex-prime minister (Muhyiddin Yassin) to deny receiving the kickbacks and not sue for defamation is really intriguing. Unless, of course, the claims are true.

For him to claim admission into hospital for his cancer treatment for not taking the money is laughable for some. Please sue, failing which we all may think it's true.

And for the other former prime minister, Najib Abdul Razak, who was convicted for corruption, what is he trying to prove? Perhaps comparing one own’s public ‘achievement’? Where's the shame?

MS: The connecting tissue among all those involved in this emerging case of organised greed and bribery is Umno.

For 22 long years, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad shaped Umno with his thoughts, his values and his modus operandi, which includes nurturing and supporting a select coterie of businessmen on a quid pro quo basis.

I would say that the practice of so-called "political donations" started with him around the time he started Malaysia Inc and later promoted the nexus between big business and the ruling government with his ‘smart partnership’ charade in 1996.

All that is being revealed now about cash being delivered to politicians did not suddenly start after 2003.

This nefarious practice was seeded much earlier, during the rampage known as privatisation and corporatisation - something which the erstwhile Anwar Ibrahim (former deputy prime minister and now PKR president) was very much part of.

Well, the monster created by Malaysia's Dr Frankenstein is now devouring the country. Cancer has infected every vital organ of government and the end is just around the corner.

Dr Raman Letchumanan: On the surface of it, most of those in Umno who are wanting to see Najib and Zahid in jail, would be celebrating all these sordid details coming out in court.

Of course, Pakatan Harapan will be extremely pleased too, at least if they do not have anything good to offer to the voters, they can ride on this public shaming of Umno and its leaders.

But wait, it is not all that it seems. The AG has the sole discretion to charge and decide what evidence to reveal in court. After all, there is enough evidence revealed by other witnesses to nail Najib and Zahid.

Why would the AG go further and implicate other former leaders in Umno? I think more such evidence will be forthcoming.

Will the AG now charge those named? After all, this is evidence produced by AG himself as credible in court. Now the AG and MACC are caught in a Catch-22 situation.

Or so it seems. I have this uncanny feeling all these will work in the favour of Najib and company to free them from the court, or at least in the eyes of the rakyat, they are proven as selectively victimised, which is what they have been saying all this while.

6th Generation Immigrant: We do not have enough MACC, police, judiciary officials and prisons if our nation's corruption activities were to be thoroughly investigated.
