The Health Ministry yesterday reported 9,673 new Covid-19 cases, bringing cumulative infections in the country to 4,372,697.
Health authorities also recorded 16 fatalities yesterday, putting the overall death toll to date at 35,397.
Active Covid cases have declined by 4,594 to 113,176.

From the 16 new deaths today, five were brought in dead.
There have been 414 reported Covid-19 deaths this month. For comparison, there were 2,235 deaths last month and 770 deaths in February.
Malaysia has the highest number of deaths per capita in the Asean and East Asian regions with 1,068 deaths per million population, and the fourth-worst in Asia after Iran, Lebanon and Jordan – all in the Middle East.
There are 2,281 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 152 are in intensive care units.
As of April 14, the national infectivity rate is at 0.86, indicating that the spread of Covid is slowing. The value must be kept under 1.0 to prevent exponential growth in cases.
