COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 21,315 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 3,061,550.
They were more than the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 8,517. This is expected to increase the number of active cases.
As of last night, the R-number was 1.43 for the entire country. A figure of more than 1.00 suggests that the spread of Covid-19 is accelerating.
The states with an infectivity rate above the national average are Labuan (1.9), Sarawak (1.61), Sabah (1.6) and Penang (1.44).
The Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The average number of daily admission of Covid-19 patients was 1,628 as of yesterday, up 41.9 percent compared to a week ago.
As of yesterday, there were 6,292 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised while only a fraction (187) are in intensive care.
The highest number of ICU patients are in the Klang Valley (40) followed by Sabah (36) and Johor (28).
Hospital bed utilisation by Covid-19 patients remains below the 80 percent mark for all states except for Johor (81 percent).
To date, 435 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including 17 new clusters reported today.
The ongoing clusters have seen an increase of 18.9 percent from the 366 active clusters a week ago.
