Covid-19 deaths (Feb 11): 10 reported fatalities, total at 32,075

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported a total of 10 new Covid-19 fatalities yesterday (Feb 10), bringing the cumulative death toll to 32,075.

The reported deaths were in Perak (2), Selangor (2), Johor (1), Kedah (1), Kelantan (1), Malacca (1), Negeri Sembilan (1) and Penang (1).

Malaysia has the highest number of deaths per capita in the Asean and East Asian regions with 969 deaths per one million population.

No new deaths were reported in Pahang, Perlis, Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

An average of 12 Covid-19 deaths was reported daily in the last 30 days compared to the seven-day average of 11, indicating a downward trend.

To date, 472 Covid-19 deaths have been reported this month.

As of yesterday, there were 107,883 active Covid-19 cases. This is an increase of 75.6 percent from the 61,426 active infections a week ago.

Compared to 30 days ago, the number of active cases has increased by 170.3 percent from 39,913.

From the 19,090 new cases yesterday, a total of 413 of them could be traced to ongoing Covid-19 clusters.

From the cluster-linked cases, 190 (46.0 percent) were from education institutions while 168 (40.7 percent) were from workplaces.

The remaining cases were traced to clusters related to high-risk groups such as old folks homes (42 - 10.2 percent) and detention centres (13 - 3.1 percent).
