COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 9,117 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,904,131.
The fresh infections are the highest in 120 days, since Oct 8 last year.
A total of 134 cases (1.5 percent) were imported while the remaining 8,983 (98.5 percent) were domestic transmissions.
As of yesterday, the national infectvity rate (R number) stood at 1.13. The value must be kept under 1.0 to prevent an exponential spread of the virus.
In a break from the current norm, the Health Ministry published the breakdown of today's cases early.
Klang Valley had the highest number of combined cases (3,074) followed by Sabah and Johor. The breakdown is as follows:

At present, 123 Covid-19 patients are in the intensive care unit of which 67 are unable to breathe on their own and have been intubated.
This is an increase of 103.4 percent compared to the 119 Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit a week ago.
To date, 353 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including 10 new clusters reported today.
The ongoing clusters have seen an increase of 21.3 percent from the 291 active clusters a week ago.
