Flood victim roasts minister after migrants, not govt came to the rescue

OceanMaster: This is an absolute disaster and has laid bare the level of incompetence of Ismail Sabri Yaakob's government. I can't believe how low the standards and accountability have gone in Malaysia, and so quickly too.

Muhyiddin Yassin, in his opportunistic Sheraton Move, and Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s subsequent government had played their political cards to maintain power by awarding key positions to incompetent politicians who support them. All in the name of race and religion.

Those political refuse, now put to test of their responsibility, have no idea how to manage a disaster of such magnitude. They think managing a disaster of this magnitude is all about visiting people in peril accompanied by bootlickers for photo ops.

That woman who roasted Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Minister Noh Omar is the reflection of frustration and anger of the common people and hats off to her. Noh was lucky, in some other countries he would have been beaten to a pulp by a mob.

I think the problem with Malaysians is that we are simply too soft when it comes to holding politicians responsible.

Coward: Noh is a typical example of the quality of our government ministers. They know how to enjoy and exploit the perks and glamour that comes with the job, but have no sense of responsibility.

If he had, as the National Security Council’s Selangor representative at the time, he would have placed all resources at their standby location before the disaster struck. For all we know, he did nothing, even after the disaster struck.

Even right now, after the whole thing blew up in his face, it is still unclear what he had done since. He probably thinks that showing his face giving out aid that is procured by others is his only role. Indeed, he is completely out of his depth.

The PM should take full responsibility for this disaster. For him to say the responsibility is shared is a disgrace. He is ultimately responsible and he is shirking his responsibility by saying so.

In this case, he has to take full responsibility for playing politics that cost us at least 37 lives. He has yet to justify why he relieved the natural choice, the Selangor menteri besar, as the NSC state representative, particularly since he appointed an incompetent man in his place. This is on top of the fact that he should know that Noh cannot mobilise state resources.

It's good that he realised his mistake and replaced Noh with the proper candidate, but the horses had bolted.

How many people's lives have to be lost or turned upside down before our politicians realise their responsibility as leaders and stop squabbling for their own self-interest. I say boot these incompetent nincompoops out in the next GE.

Casper C: My thoughts and prayers go out to all those severely affected by the current flood situation.

Nature will always have its way; water will eventually recede but we are left in the wake of its mercy, and what makes the current predicament worse are failed policies aplenty from the top.

The damage that we are witnessing causes loss of life, property and to some, a lifetime of work - all lost to the combined hands of mother nature and the fools who continue to talk down to us all.

Vote them out. Malaysia can no longer afford to pander to this collective of sinister forces wreaking havoc onto us all.

In very lay language - the ruling class continues to enjoy their bounty of corrupt gains living the high life with no consequence as the public are left to pick up the pieces, left to fend for ourselves, with the worst-hit, highly dependent on the goodwill of strangers.

Vote them out, I say, the crucial first step to once again seize control of the reins to allow Pakatan Harapan to once again steer us to calmer waters.

Clever Voter: For decades, locals have been voting in a bunch of self-serving politicians who are not only clueless in problem solving and unhelpful, but also great at seizing the opportunity for cheap publicity.

The floods which have caused untold misery to thousands have proven these facts:

A minister organised a fundraising campaign in a hotel when she should be out liaising with all agencies relevant to rescue.

A minister who keenly checks his pictures on each of the boxes containing aid.

A minister who went on a boat tour at disaster zones with his entourage of guards, publicity managers, etc.

A minister who was nowhere to be seen when it came to mobilising the armed forces to help with the rescue mission.

Last but not least, a PM who was seen touring the affected place but made no attempt to connect with the flood victims.

It was a lost opportunity for the establishment to prove its worth. Its critics are right about them being a bunch of greedy, self-serving feudal chiefs who are of no value to members of the public who desperately need help from the government.

BobbyO: Selangor is in the hands of the opposition. Why should federal government agencies come forward? They will have to wait for instructions from their political masters.

Perhaps they were hoping that the delay would damage the reputation of the ruling state administration, without any concern for the suffering of the people and the taxpaying citizens of the nation.

The delay is due to an inefficient government administration, yet the cabinet ministers still received a 90 percent mark from their leader, the PM.

This is God's way of exposing the blatant hypocrisy.

Save Our Currency: You can throw that 90 percent scorecard at their faces, it’s just to fool the rural folks.

Meanwhile, we hear of boats and vans that can only accommodate one or two flood victims. What kind of mobilisation is this? They even have ceremonies to launch flood aid, what a joke! If the Fire and Rescue Department were to have ceremonies for every fire, God help us.

This ‘kerajaan gagal’ was not chosen by the people, but a continuation of the ‘frog disease’ that started in Perak in 2009.

AnotherKomentar: The arrogance, nonchalance, indifference, and incompetence of this government, including this useless minister from Tanjong Karang, is breathtaking.

What a stench - not from the decomposing garbage in the wake of the receding water, but the useless platitudes and half-hearted apologies from the mouth of the PM and his army of ‘gaji buta’ ministers.
