Wrong priorities: PM chastised for having three advisors costing RM50k each

OCT: When Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has the liberty to appoint anyone as his advisors, there is nothing the rakyat can do about it.

Affordability is not a criterion. The most important criterion is ‘sokong’ (support) the leader and don't become a frog.

It is very hard to fathom why the PM needs additional advisors when he already has a large cabinet of ministers.

When a person is not accountable for his decisions, there is a tendency to abuse his power and for corruption to fester.

For the PM, what he wants is what he gets. A principled PM will justify such appointments with return on investment (ROI) and set clear job scopes.

The PM asked the rakyat to be prudent in spending while he keeps on spending without a care for the country. Malaysia will be bankrupt soon if this continues.

BluePanther4725: Malaysia already has the most bloated, incompetent cabinet in the world. Why does Ismail Sabri need additional advisors? This is gross corruption and cronyism.

The people are struggling to make a living and now we can’t even afford to eat vegetables but these backdoor BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) cronies are enjoying a salary of RM50,000 a month for ostensibly doing nothing. It’s so disgusting.

IndigoKite6964: I agree with Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng. Why the need for advisors when you have ministers, deputy ministers, ministers without portfolio, and ministers with portfolio who do not understand anything about their portfolio anyway.

How much is the country spending to sustain this bunch of non-performing people who needs to spend even more for advisors to hide their incompetence and stupidity?

DragonKing: I really can’t understand the mentality of our leaders. There are ministries and ministers appointed by the prime minister. One of those deals with health. But then he requires an appointed advisor to advise on health.

What is the logic behind this? Does the prime minister not trust his ministers and their standards are below par that he needs personal advisors? Isn’t this a waste of the government’s coffers?

It is perplexing that the rakyat can keep electing such individuals to represent them in this era. It’s either the rakyat don’t have any ability to think or politicians are able to hypnotise them with their antics.

If the country’s administration continues this way, surely we are heading towards doom in the near future.

Tembikai: Indeed, if the health minister is so useless that he cannot advise the PM, then get rid of him, instead of giving him gaji buta (sinecure) and employing a separate advisor for health.

Freethinker: The prime minister appointed a bunch of ministers whom he cannot rely on and now needs to appoint “advisors” to advise him on what to do.

If a PM needs so much advice from advisors and from his many ministers, he might as well step down.

Where are all the cabinet members of the respective ministries? Sitting at home? Why does the PM need so many advisors?

Just A Malaysian: With so many advisors, what have we heard from the PM? Nothing substantial except crying about Malay language nationalism, promoting batik, and making Dec 3 Batik Day. How cheesy can they get?

It's like the captain of the Titanic scolding his staff for throwing rubbish and admiring the stars while the ship is sinking. And the captain is busy appointing vice-captains and declaring the sinking ship to be one big family.

We need to elect people with brains, vision, and bravery to lead this country. Not a simpleton acting like he has struck a first-prize lottery.

Bruclax: Actually, there is nothing wrong with the appointment so long as the advisor is competent and capable of steering the PM in the right direction.

For example, a convicted felon who is found guilty of corruption is a “suitable” candidate to advise the PM on corruption matters.

The unfortunate reality in Bolehland is it seems that every Tom, Dick, and Harry is appointed as an advisor to the PM, more often than not for political expediency or for all other reasons except for a real need of an advisor.

Many commentators have asked the question as to why the PM needs these advisors when there are so many ministers who have a key role in advising the PM on matters relating to their respective portfolios.

It all stems from the fact that this lot called the cabinet is incompetent, incapable, and void of any intellectual capabilities. Thus, the need for advisors.

The other reason is probably that it is not his money. It is the taxpayers’ money! This is the sign of the times. They are making hay while the sun shines.
