COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 4,626 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,688,149.

The fresh infections were surpassed by a total of 4,690 Covid-19 patients who recovered today. This is expected to help reduce the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 396
  • Intubated: 211

The national R-naught is at 0.97, coming down from a high of 0.99 on Dec 6 and 7.

However, the R-naught in Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, and Perlis are still above 1.00

A figure above 1.00 would indicate an outbreak that is growing and accelerating its pace.

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions of confirmed Covid-19 patients in the last seven days have declined by 5.4 percent compared to the preceding week.

However, bucking the national trend, hospital admissions of confirmed Covid-19 patients rose in Negeri Sembilan (+36 percent), Penang (+26.1 percent) and Terengganu (+13.5 percent) during the same period.

The Health Ministry will only publish today's breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

The breakdown by states for yesterday (Dec 10), where 5,058 new cases were reported, is as follow:

Selangor (1,293)
Johor (500)
Pahang (425)

Terengganu (262)
