C Tinesh Kumar, 39, is suffering from chronic pancreatitis and needs to undergo an operation at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC).
According to his wife, R Devansudari, 39, the estimated cost is RM75,000.
Speaking to Malaysiakini, she said her husband first sought treatment at the Selayang Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.
“Due to certain unavoidable reasons, the hospital suggested that we do the operation at a semi-government hospital and the cost would be around RM35,000.
“So, we did a fundraiser for this. However, the semi-government hospital could not perform the surgery because of the spike in Covid-19 cases.
“In this situation, I had no choice but to seek treatment for my husband at a private hospital because he has been suffering for a long time,” added the housewife, who is doing part-time catering to make ends meet.
Devasundari, who has three children aged between nine and 13, said her husband's condition is deteriorating and his weight has dropped to 40kg.
“His condition is worsening. The cost for treatment and surgery at SMJC is about RM75,000, which is more than the sum I collected before.
“I appeal to the public to help save my husband. I am truly helpless at this point,” she added.
