A lawyers' group has lambasted the government's intentions to review notoriously draconian laws to ‘strengthen the governance and security in the country’.
Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) is appalled by a section of the 12th Malaysian Plan (12MP) which stated that the government wants to amend laws including the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (Poca), Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma), Prevention of Terrorism Act 2015 (Pota), the Sedition Act 1948 and the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 (PPPA).
