COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 3,780 new Covid-19 cases and 36 deaths.
The new locally transmitted infections comprised 91.08 percent Malaysians and 8.92 percent non-citizens.
The Klang Valley accounted for 42.99 percent (1624 cases) of new local infections while East Malaysia made up 13.21 percent (499 cases).
There were only two imported cases reported today.
New recoveries of 3,990 outpaced fresh cases, helping to reduce the number of active cases and reducing the strain on Covid-19 hospitals.
- Active cases: 41,889
- Patients in ICUs: 520
- Intubated: 272
Selangor recorded the highest number of new infections today with 1,275 cases.
This was followed by Sarawak at 405 cases, Kedah at 363 cases, and Kelantan at 357 cases.
Deaths
There were 36 fatalities today, bringing the death toll to 1,902.
The new deaths were recorded in Selangor (8), Penang (6), Sarawak (5), Kedah (5), Kuala Lumpur (4), Perak (3), Negeri Sembilan (2), Terengganu (2), and Pahang (1).
The youngest victim was a 29-year-old Malaysian man who suffered from obesity. He died at Hospital Tuanku Jaafar in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
The remaining deaths were aged between 30 and 93.
