COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 1,275 new cases and one death.

A similar trend was observed in the number of Covid-19 patients requiring intensive care. Over the prior seven days, the average number of ICU patients was 154 and today it was 161.

In Kelantan, the number of new cases has reached 86 and has not been this high in a month.

Clusters

There are currently 393 active Covid-19 clusters in the country, down from 509 active cases 30 days ago.

None of the active cases reported more than 50 new cases today, which is an encouraging sign.

However, the Health Ministry classified another 13 new Covid-19 clusters today.

Notably, a new cluster - Taman Brick - is described as a "recreation" in Iskandar Puteri. Those who are infected with Covid-19 are staff of the Iskandar Puteri-based facility.

Incidentally, Khazanah Nasional-owned Legoland Malaysia Resort, located in Iskandar Puteri, posted an announcement two days ago that their facility will be closed as a "precautionary measure" because a "small number" of their contractors and employees tested positive for Covid-19.

Another cluster - Sungai Chat - involved yet another educational institute. As of yesterday, the Health Ministry said there were at least 41 new clusters linked to higher learning institutions, government schools. Islamic schools and preschools.
