COVID-19 | Malaysia today reported a record high 5,725 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the cumulative cases to 203,933.
The Klang Valley region reported the highest number of cases (3,829, or 66.9 percent of today's total) with Selangor reporting 3,126 new cases - nearly double what was reported yesterday.
A single district alone - Petaling - contributed 1,530 new cases in Selangor. For details, click here. This district covers major townships such as Petaling Jaya, Bandar Utama, Subang Jaya, Puchong, Shah Alam, Sungai Buloh and Bukit Raja.
It has been 17 days since the entire Klang Valley region was placed under movement control order (MCO) lockdowns, which began on Jan 12.

Deaths
The Covid-19 death toll in the Klang Valley continues to mount. Nine deaths were reported in Selangor and one in Kuala Lumpur.
There were two deaths reported in Sabah and one each in Sarawak, Malacca, Kelantan and Perak.
Currently, Covid-19 deaths in the Klang Valley stood at 25.5 percent of the national total (733) and has been steadily increasing since late November 2020.
Five of the 16 deceased were pronounced dead on arrival.

There are five clusters which reported new cases in the triple digits - Tanjung Suria (Selangor), Penjara Jalan Harapan (Sungai Buloh jail, spread nationwide), Penjara Jalan Sungai Jelok (Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan), Jalan Yahya (Kuala Lumpur) and Pasai (Sarawak).
