COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 919 new Covid-19 cases and one death during the 24-hour period ending noon.
Leading indicators, as of today, in brief:
- Active cases = 11,419 ↓ (27 fewer than the previous day)
- Patients in intensive care = 92 ↑ (6 more than the previous day)
- Intubated patients = 35 ↑ (5 more than the previous day)
- Deaths = 1
The death involved a 66-year-old man at the Tawau Hospital. The cumulative number of deaths in Sabah attributed to Covid-19 now stands at 165, or 54.5 percent of the national death toll (303).
Cases in Negeri Sembilan exceeded 200 for the second consecutive day with 240 cases reported today, which accounts for 26.1 percent of national figures.
Klang Valley states and territories recorded another 224 cases (34.7 percent). Only 13 infections today involved detention centres and prisons.
Imported cases from Indonesia, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia account for three infections.

Meanwhile, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said laboratories nationwide have conducted 28,054 RT-PCR tests yesterday out of a combined capacity of 59,390 tests per day.
The three laboratories in Sabah conducted 2,919 tests yesterday, which is 108 percent of its capacity of 2,700 tests per day. In addition, 1,418 samples were flown from Sabah to Peninsular Malaysia for testing.
The Health Ministry has also identified a new cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Noor Hisham said the three index cases of the Teluk cluster were detected during workplace screening on Nov 9 and Nov 10. Contact tracing identified another 27 cases.
He also announced that the Health Ministry is ending monitoring for three clusters after no new cases were detected for 28 consecutive days.
The Pulau cluster in Sabah ended with 53 cases found among 1,036 people tested.
The Bah Rose cluster in Kedah and Penang involved 11 cases out of 552 people tested, while the Bah Ketil cluster in Kedah had 15 cases out of 490 people tested.
No deaths were reported in any of the three clusters.
A total of 133 clusters are no longer considered active since the beginning of the pandemic, but there are 157 active clusters.
The Cergas cluster affecting Negeri Sembilan and Kelantan registered the highest growth today, with 221 new cases being reported for a total of 724 cases. There have been 3,092 people screened in this cluster so far.
The cluster is centred around workers’ hostels for four factories in Senawang Industrial Park.
