The Selangor state government will provide transportation, food, face masks, and hand sanitisers to university students affected by the sudden cancellation of their physical registration at higher education institutions.
In a statement today, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said that the Covid-19 situation has been a serious challenge to all, especially to students due to the uncertain status of their studies.
A number of students were recently left stranded following the Higher Education Ministry's last-minute recommendation for higher education institutions to postpone the physical registration of students due to rising cases of Covid-19.
"The economic situation damaged by the Covid-19 pandemic is causing financial pressure for students. Due to this situation, the Selangor state government through the Selangor Young Adun Caucus will be handing out aid," said Amirudin.
He said those eligible for the aid include students in Selangor who are studying in Selangor, those from other states studying in Selangor, and Selangor students studying in other states.
The aid provided will include transportation for students to return to their hometowns.
Students who want to apply for the face masks and hand sanitisers can do so here.
For those who want to apply for food aid, the application form can be found here.
Lastly, for those who require transportation back to their hometowns, they can apply here.
