Eight DAP members who were present at the Buntong state assemblyperson A Sivasubramaniam's press conference on leaving DAP to join Gerakan on June 26 were fired immediately from the party.

DAP disciplinary committee chairperson Chong Chieng Jen said the eight members, namely, Dan Adriel Daniel Velloo, Angeline Phillip Joe Phillip, P Murugiah, Joseph Hendry Kovil Pillai John, Amir Abdullah, R Marimutu, S Theivanai and William John Johin Bin had previously been given a show-cause letter but they failed to submit a reason for their actions.
