BN retains Slim with massive majority and 7 news you may have missed

1. BN candidate Mohd Zaidi Aziz won a massive victory in the Slim by-election by garnering 13,060 votes to win by a 10,945 majority over Pejuang-backed independent Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi who bagged 2,115 votes.

2. Pasir Puteh MP Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh has declined to apologise for saying the Christian Bible was distorted but said he was willing to have a harmonious dialogue on the matter.

Zawawi says he was only stating facts on alcohol prohibition, Christians have no right to be offended.

3. Johor Umno deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed urged Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to stop "going here and there" to rally parliamentarians' support ahead of the next Dewan Rakyat sitting in October and should accept the fact that Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional (PN) were in a precarious state.

4. The son of late former deputy prime minister Ghafar Baba has rejected attempts by Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin to link him to the controversy surrounding projects under her ministry that were awarded without tender.

Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong and his predecessor Anthony Loke were at loggerheads with Loke claiming that Wee's move to reopen the tender for the Klang Valley Double Tracking (Phase 2) project was proof that Wee agreed that the project approved by their predecessor Liow Tiong Lai was overpriced. Wee retorted by calling Loke's move to avoid an open tender a strange one.

8. Granddaughter of ex-premier Mahathir Mohamad, Meera Alyanna Mukhriz, has apologised for her actions after she was arrested and fined last week for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO).
